How do you play back these Atmos mixes? I have a compatible player and sound setup, but I assume this is an mkv file I need to send over to my player?

Pop over to the headphonedust website. There’s a really good page explaining how.

Thankfully I have a Nvidia shield (streamer) which does the work. My amp then picks up the stream via hdmi.

Finding this all very frustrating! I want physical copies. I tried the download of the Madrid gig and my system would not play the Dolby Atmos mix despite it having no problem playing Dolby Atmos Blu-rays. It would seem I need additional hardware to play this

If you’re using a BluRay player into a surround amp, it’s very different to relying on your TV to decode an Atmos stream from an mkv container. The headphone dust site has a good, although not totally accurate, guide as to how to get these to play correctly.

I love that last paragraph! I hope that this would be the remixes work that you did for other artists :)

A good idea if getting a reissue is going to be a problem

I love the new Atmos mix of one of my favorite SW albums! To be perfectly honest, I was a little disappointed with the Atmos mix of Raven. While it did use the surround and height layers in cool ways, I found it overall to lack the “oomph” that the 5.1 mix had, and this is especially noticeable in the bass. It’s also just far quieter, and I know Atmos mixes often sound quieter for the greater dynamic range, but when switching back and forth between the 5.1 and Atmos for Raven it’s quite dramatic, and for the Atmos I find I have to turn my Sonos system way up, almost to max, to get to a comfortable listening volume, and I don’t even listen to music super loud normally, I prioritize quality over loudness of course. When listening to Raven I’m torn whether to go with the 5.1 mix that’s more powerful, or the relatively muted Atmos mix but that has great effects in the surround and height layers.

Sorry for the small rant, Raven is my favorite of the SW solos along with HCE, and the Atmos mix just left me a bit underwhelmed. However, the HCE Atmos mix sounds terrific, easily better than 5.1 when comparing them. And one of the best things about all these Headphone Dust releases is getting to see the videos along with the surround/Atmos mixes! I’ve wanted that for so long, to be the definitive way to experience these songs, especially with the Jess Cope masterpieces. Can’t wait for more from Headphone Dust, both more of your own work as well as remixes of other artists that I’m not as familiar with!

The yeah on the end of the hook on happy returns, just popped out on the binaural mix ,on my walk today.

If I get that level of detail from a record then it's a good as it gets.

Such a brilliant masterpiece! Thank you for the multi-stream mkv! I've listened to H.C.E hundreds of times, but now I get to hear it like it's brand new. And the experience is just breathtaking.

You're a genius, Steven. Cheers

Please release this physically! It’s one of my favourite ever albums. Personally I’ve decided against buying digital music / using Spotify etc as I think downloading and streaming disrespects the art form, albeit I know the root you are taking with this website swerves this path to some degree. I also realise that music buying etc is constantly evolving. I’m certain so many of your fans are physical buying music lovers so please make this available however.

Such a brilliant album deserves the full on cathartic experience of physically ‘putting it on’. Looking forward to seeing you at the RAH later in the year!
